On our way up from Espanola to Taos we passed El Santuario de Chimayó, a Roman Catholic church in Chimayó, New Mexico. This beautiful church is a national historic landmark, famous for its founding and for being a contemporary pilgrimage site with nearly 300,000 visitors per year. I captured this shot while the sun was at just the right angle allowing the shadows to rest upon the entrance way and the tops of the trees and enhance the brightness of the pointed caps at the top of the sanctuary..
