Medicine Lake

Mother Earth is filled with wonderful geological anomalies, such as this disappearing river in Jasper National Park. The perfect timing of the sunset and the reflection of the mountains on Medicine Lake creates the illusion that the lake was never there. The world is an amazing place!

Icefields Parkway

The Icefields Parkway is one of Canada’s national treasures and an absolute beautiful destination. The Parkway stretches 144 miles through the heart of the Canadian Rockies. Journeying through the Icefields Parkway offers mountain lakes, ancient glaciers and sweeping valleys. Featured here is just one of the extraordinary snippets of the vast landscapes the Icefields Parkway has to offer.

Athabasca Falls

The beauty of mother nature never ceases to amaze me. Athabasca Falls in Jasper National Park, Canada is one powerful force of nature I had the pleasure to capture in all it’s cascading glory. The rushing waters provide the perfect contrast to the still greenery and mountains in the background. It was quite the magnificent scene.

There is nothing more calming than taking a hike in the beautiful outdoors of Canada. The sound and power of Tangle Falls cascading down the rocks was quite powerful, yet soothing as it radiated throughout Jasper National Park. The goal was to capture this waterfall in action and encompass the falling water in all its glory, while keeping the surrounding nature as a still bystander.

Cotton Candy Sky’s

Cotton candy sky’s rise over Patricia Lake in Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada. The misty morning sunrise emulated pastel colors off the calm waters as the light seized the morning fog rising from the lake. This was a great location for shooting and allowed for a wide variety of scenery.

Moraine Lake

This day was such a perfect day for a canoe ride on Moraine Lake in Banff National Part, Canada. Not a cloud in the sky or a wave in the water, it’s like mother nature was welcoming us with open arms. Because, honestly, who could resist a little recreational activity among the Canadian Rockies with such a beautiful scene? With the magnificently blue sky, forest green trees, and colorful canoes, the brightness in this shot could captivate any audience

Talbot Lake

Talbot Lake is a great location for shooting. Located near Highway 16, a short distance from the Jasper town site, it has easy access and a wonderful shoreline to wander with a slew possible shots. While getting set-up for this particular shot, we could hear the elk meander through the ample browse all around us as they finished their morning meal. With its north-south orientation, the lake is great for shooting both in the morning and the evening.

Athabask Valley in Jasper National Park

More of the Canadian Rockies, the Athabask Valley in Jasper National Park to be exact. A lot of the snow and ice-fields had melted in the forefront of the image, but you can see the mountains in the background, which look like they are among the clouds, are still covered. I am really looking forward to the upcoming workshop where we can get some more great shots such as these.

Peyto Lake

For the 16th year in a row, I am pleased to be teaching for Arizona Highways Photo Workshops. Next year includes two exciting workshops, the first of which is a week in July in the Canadian Rockies. It will be an amazing week and include such breathtaking locations like this one of Peyto Lake.

Old Havana

Here is a shot of a street scene in Old Havana. Looks like a snippet right out of a movie. With the mixture of color, architecture and people, we really loved the way this street photographed. Not to mention, we were really digging the method of hang drying clothes.
